According to a new poll, by research company Gallup, the Pirate Party has the support of 34.6% of the nation. The support for the pirates remains around the one-third mark, as has been the case in polls by various research companies throughout this year.
The Pirates received 5.1% of votes in the 2013 elections. Next general elections are planned in the spring of 2017.
Support for the two parties that form Iceland’s coalition government, the Progressive Party (Framsóknarflokkurinn) and the Independence Party (Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn) has increased slightly according to the poll. 36% of the nation supports the government, which was voted into power with 51.1% of the votes in the spring of 2013.
The Independence Party (Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn), is supported by 24.4% in the new poll but received 26.7% of the votes in 2013.
The other half of the coalition, prime minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson's Progressive Party, has crashed to 10.1%, down from 24.4% in the 2013 elections.

The Social Democratic Alliance (Samfylkingin) has 10.1% of voter's support, down from 12.9% in 2013, the Left Greens (Vinstrihreyfingin grænt framboð) has a 10.6% support (10.9% in the elections) and Bright Future (Björt Framtíð) has 5.6% (8.2% in the elections).
No party, that does not have members at Alþingi, Iceland's parliament receives support above 2 percent.
