Iceland’s exciting Euro adventure is over after losing to France yesterday evening. The hosts, however, progress to the semi-finals where they will face Germany.

Despite suffering defeat, Iceland supporters thanked the team for its dedication and hard-work by joining in on a “Viking war cry” for one last time at the end of the match.

The game was Lars Lagerbäck‘s last as manager of Iceland.

“I enjoyed working in Iceland and it has been a privilege to partake in this journey. It has been very special and Iceland has a special place in my heart,” Lagerbäck said during the post-game press conference.

Heimir Hallgrímsson will continue to manage the team, but now without assistance from the Swede, as it prepares for World Cup 2018.
