Icelandic nerds attempt a twitter take-over 322

Sports journalist Henry Birgir Gunnarsson is the man behind the event which revolves around trying to get celebrities to respond to a tweet. The person who receives the most responses ends up winning the competition. But take note, only responses from foreign celebrities count.

To keep track of their tweets, those competing tag them with #boladagur.

The first year Boladagur took place, over nine thousand tweets were tweeted. However, last year they amounted to a staggering eighteen thousand tweets. Almost two thousand Icelandic Twitter-users took part in the event last year and received around five hundred responses.

The Twitter-event Boladagur, which literally translates to T-shirt Day, begins this evening at 8pm. This is the third consecutive year Boladagur takes place. Bolur is an Icelandic term used to describe your ordinary Joe.
