Iceland plays a small role in the latest Shot on iPhone ad campaign for Apple's iPhone 7. The goal of the campaign is to demonstrate the quality of the phone's camera and the its ability to take photographs under low light conditions. Apple enlisted a group of photographers to capture photographs using the phone's low-light camera.
One of the 25 photographs was taken by a Scottish photographer Ruairidh McGlynn. Ruairidh decided that Iceland was the logical destination:
I wanted to produce a series of unexpected images that both pushed the boundaries of mobile photography and allowed people to reimagine Iceland — especially its possibilities at night. iPhone provides the ability to capture, process, curate and publish all on one device, all qualities that lend themselves well to the candid landscape shots and conditions I enjoy capturing.
