Icelandic director Yrsa Roca Fannberg received the Best Nordic Documentary Award for her documentary, Salóme 1624

Icelandic director Yrsa Roca Fannberg received the Best Nordic Documentary Award for her documentary Salóme, during the 2014 Nordisk Panorama Film Festival.
Salomé documents Yrsa’s relationship with her own mother. However, the film’s subplot portrays the “tug of war between a director and a main character with a will of her own”.

The jury described the film as a heart-warming yet “complex and expertly crafted vision of how performance and staging in documentary can reveal the deepest emotional authenticity”.

This is the very first time that an Icelandic film receives one of the main awards at the prestigious festival.
