The dairy company MS Iceland Dairies (Mjólkursamsalan) has created a video where they do a number on Arla’s new skyr product. The company seems to be somewhat offended that the Scandinavian dairy company Arla has begun to market Icelandic skyr in the UK.

The short video, or ad, shows a pot of MS skyr trying to engage a pot of Arla skyr in discussion, to no avail. Eventually the MS skyr potters off saying: “Oh, yoghurt posing a skyr. How predictable.”

Skyr is a traditional, Icelandic dairy product and while resembling yogurt it is, correctly speaking, a cheese. Skyr-making dates all the way back to the 9th century. Skyr is not a product with protected designation of origin in the European Union, meaning Arla is authorised to produce and sell skyr.
