Icelandic airline WOW will launch directs flights between Keflavík International Airport and Miami International Airport on 5 April 2017. This will be the first time an Icelandic airline offers direct scheduled flights to Miami.

The carrier will offer three weekly round-trips to Miami with connections to 22 destinations in Scandinavia, the U.K. and Continental Europe via Keflavík International Aiport in Iceland.  The travel dates will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

WOW already offers direct flights to five destinations in North America: Boston, Washington, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Montreal, and flights to New York will begin this autumn.

WOW is a low-cost airline that has grown rapidly. It was founded in November 2011 and began its flight service in May 2012.

WOW will use Airbus A330-300 planes for the flight to Miami International Airport. Their range is 11,300 km (6,100 mi). The distance between Keflavík Airport and Miami International Airport is 5.888 km (3.659 mi).

The Airbus is be the largest plane used for scheduled flights by an Icelandic airline. It’s 63.69 meters  (208 ft 11 in) long and can carry up to 440 in an all-economy layout. WOW planes are equipped with 340 seats, for added legroom and comfort.
