According to Mbl more than ten thousand people registered as organ donors over the course of one month. Registered donors were 18,655 on the morning of February 17, compared to 8,500 on January 12th.

Most donors are between 18 and 40 years old and it seems as though women are much more likely to become organ donors, making up 67 percent of all donors compared to men‘s 33 percent.
Icelanders can register to become organ donors on the Directorate of Health‘s website.
