Iceland meets Finland in a World Cup qualifier tonight — where to watch the game live 5029

10. jún 2016 15:51

Iceland’s national football team hosts Finland tonight at Laugardalsvöllur Stadium in Reykjavík in the second round of FIFA’s World Cup qualifiers. The FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia in 2018.

Last summer Iceland became is the smallest nation (population 330.000) ever to play at the European final Championship. The team had a storming tournament and stunned the footballing world by beating the star-studded England national team and advancing to the quarter finals.

This is the second game day of Group I, which is made up of Iceland, Finland, Ukraine, Kosovo, Turkey and Croatia, each to play home-and-away.

In the first round Iceland drew 1-1 away against Ukraine and Finland drew 1-1 at home against Kosovo.

Finland boss Hans Backe told FIFA.com this week that Iceland's UEFA EURO 2016 success is a source of inspiration for all the Nordic countries. They showed that it is possible to do something special if you do things the right way.

The Icelandic team has not lost a competitive game in Reykjavík since June 2013.

Finland has the competitive advance in the last 14 matches between the nations, having won 8 against Iceland’s 4, while 2 have ended all square.

The game is sold out but the next best thing from being at the stadium is watching the games in a great atmosphere of passionate fans. Here are three of the best spots in Reykjavík to experience the game, on a big screen and maybe have a cold beer or two in good company.
