The Icelandic band, Árstíðir, engaged with visual artist Kitty Von-Sometime, to produce a collaborative art project after the band’s success through the Kickstarter fundraising website. The film they created represents Árstíðir’s music for their upcoming third album, and brings Kitty’s visual concept into play as an artistic statement on Kitty’s relationship with living in Iceland.

In creating the project, the artists brought a large, 160 kilogram, (nearly 353 lbs) ice sculpture to Langjökull glacier. The sculpture was carved in Reykjavik and had a lambs heart frozen into its center. The ice sculpture, a key element of the shoot according to the artists, made the whole process incredibly challenging.

While Árstíðir gained popularity after a video of their fantastic performance of ancient hymn Heyr himna smiður at a German train station went viral, Kitty is best known for her ongoing visual art series, The Weird Girls Project which challenges the concept of body image and pushes women’s self confidence boundaries. An independent documentary film following Kitty is currently in post-production.
