The Hvalfjarðargöng tunnel in West Iceland will be closed tonight (25 October) from midnight until 6 am tomorrow and also tomorow night (Wednesday to Thursday night), due to maintenance and cleaning according to the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA).
The tunnel is part of the Route 1, but an alternative route along Hvalfjörður fjord is open. The detour is 55 km (32 mi).
