Heavy rain and flooding expected in some parts of the country today, Monday 2340

A severe weather warning is in effect for East Iceland today. Strong gale force winds, reaching more than 20 metres per second (45 mph/72 km per hour) will affect the region for much of today, according to the IMO.

Also, people are advised to prepare for both surface water and river flooding in the southern and eastern regions today. Heavy rainfall is expected in the regions until afternoon.

A moderate southerly breeze tomorrow and snowshowers in some regions, but dry in the northeast. Temperatures near the zero mark. Easterly and northeasterly winds are expected to pick up again tomorrow night, Tuesday.
