Holuhraun volcanic pollution is expected to the north of the eruption site today (Monday) according to the Icelandic Met Office (IMO).
This morning the sulfur dioxide (SO2) pollution was heavily felt in populated areas close to lake Mývatn and in Húsavík town North Iceland.
Sulfur dioxide is considered to have reached unhealthy levels when it exceeds 600 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3). RÚV reports that the pollution was measured above 1,700 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3) in Húsavík for a short period around 8 this morning. Húsavík is 133 km (82.6 mi) from the eruption site.
Tomorrow the gas pollution is expected mainly to the northeast of the eruption site.

Air Quality Index (AQI)

YELLOW Moderate
ORANGE Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
