Talk of privatization of Keflavík International Airport has provoked increased interest from foreign investors in buying the airport facilities. The Icelandic parliament's finance committee recently proposed selling off state assets at the airport to finance investment in transport infrastructure.

The proposal to sell the airport was put forth by the majority of the finance committee of the Icelandic parliament. Opposition leaders have vowed to fight the privatization of the airport, calling it a symptom of an absurd economic policy by the center-right coalition government.
