Police in South Iceland rescued a group of 45 British students who were stuck in a tour bus by Þingvallavatn lake on the Golden Circle on Sunday afternoon. None of the students were hurt, and they were able to continue their trip after the ordeal.
The tour bus had driven to the curb of the narrow road to give room to an oncoming car. However, the shoulder gave way, causing the bus to nearly tip over and slide down the shoulder. The driver was unable to open the doors of the bus due to the dense forest along the side of the road, leaving the passengers stuck in the bus.

A second bus from the tour company arrived to allow the group to continue its trip, while a tractor excavator from a nearby farm and a truck pulled the tour bus back onto the road.
