Local photographer Kristinn Ingi Pétursson shot this great video just a few minutes before the Holuhraun eruption area was evacuated yesterday as scientists believed a sub-glacial eruption had begun in Dyngjujökull outlet only few kilometers away.
The melted lava from the volcanic fissure flows like a red-orange coloured river close to the fissure and then crawls slowly, but relentlessly, to the edge of the new lava field as can be seen in Kristinn's video below.
