A car enthusiast in a small village in the Westfjords was tracked down using Google when tourists required a mechanic’s assistance.

A resident of Hólmavík village, was phoned up by a car rental in Reykjavík last night after two German tourist, a mother and daughter, got into car trouble in the area. As visir.is reports, the car rental found Jón Halldórsson’s name by doing a key word search in Google until finally they found someone who could possibly help.

Jón is not a licensed mechanic but keeps a blog where he sometimes writes about cars and so the connection was made.

Jón said he had no problems helping those in need, being raised on a farm he is used to lending a helping hand. Jón did, however, mention that the language barrier between him and the women had cause slight difficulty as he speaks only Icelandic. He was able to fix the car and get the German ladies on the road again. They had a plane to catch today.
