The Húsavík Police Department, North Iceland, has forwarded the case of Kazakh billionaire, Goga Ashkenazi, to the Metropolitan Police, reports the National Broadcasting Service.
Reykjavík Helicopters, the commercial helicopter operator that flew Goga and her companions to the restricted Holuhraun eruption site, has yet to receive a complaint from authorities.
A spokesperson for the company says the incident is considered a grave offence and appropriate actions have been made.
This is not the first time people have been charged for entering the restricted eruption site; Three Icelanders were charged with trespassing in September and will face a hefty fine.
