The Gljúfrasteinn museum has been closed since January due to extensive mould and mildew found inside the building. The museum will remain closed until January 2017, reports Morgunblaðið newspaper.
Gljúfrasteinn is located in Mosfellsdalur valley, a short drive from Reykjavík, and was the home and workplace of author Halldór Laxness. Laxness received the 1955 Nobel Prize in Literature and is Iceland’s only Nobel laureate.
Tours of the author’s home are available in English, German, Swedish and Danish.
