While glaciers in south Iceland have been retreating considerably over the past decades, Drangajökull in the Westfjords and glaciers in north Iceland have occasionally added to their mass, reports Mbl.
According to Oddur Sigurðsson, a specialist in the field of glaciology at the Icelandic Met Office, enough snow has accumulated on these glaciers for the past couple of years to add to their mass.

Seeing as many glaciers and ice caps in the North Atlantic are projected to disappear over the next hundred years this must be considered exceptionally good news.
