Gas pollution from Holuhraun eruption extremely high in the Southeast 1815

High values of gas pollution from the Holuhraun eruption site were registered yesterday at Höfn in Hornafjörður, Southeast Iceland.

The pollution measured 14.000 ug/m3 – the highest since the eruption began in late August. A thick haze also surrounded the area.

Residents have been advised to stay inside with windows closed and central heating turned up.

Today (Monday, October 27) gas pollution can be expected east and southeast of the volcano, but mainly to the south tomorrow (Tuesday, October 28).
