A 22 yeard old French woman who had been reported missing in Iceland came forth to police just before noon today. Police say the woman is safe and sound.
Louise Soreda had reportedly went to Iceland on a one way ticket on July the 5th without notifying family and had her phone turned off. Her family had feared for her life.
Police asked the public for assistance in the search for her yesterday.
Credit card transaction revealed the location
According to police, Soreda was accompanied by a compatriot when she came forth. Police had at that point tracked location down by a credit card transaction. She had paid by credit card at a travel agency that operates in Þórsmörk nature reserve on Tuesday.
Local news site Vísir reports that police received numerous tips that Soreda was travelling in South Iceland.
She has been put in contact with her family and representatives of Interpol who sent Icelandic police an inquiry about Soreda two days after she arrived in Iceland. Local news site Mbl.is says that Soreda will continue her travels in Iceland, citing the police anouncement.
