The Icelandic Met Office’s weather forecast for Christmas Day, 25 December, was somewhat amiss, reports the National Broadcasting Service.
The IMO had predicted temperatures around -22 degrees Celsius (-7.6 Fahrenheit) in Reykjavík on Christmas Day. According to meteorologist Birta Líf Kristinsdóttir, a mix up in the Met Office’s computer programme meant the numbers are grossly exaggerated. Temperatures might drop to -20 degrees Celsius in the central highlands, but will remain around -3 to -10 degrees Celsius (27-14 Fahrenheit) along the coastline.
