Three men were recently convicted on trespass after entering the Holuhraun eruption site in September, reports the National Broadcasting Service. The eruption site was closed to the public as gas emissions in the area were deemed life threatening.

Seven suits for trespass have been filed in the District Court of Northeast Iceland. Four people have been found guilty of entering the restricted area and 23 were issued a fine.

A helicopter pilot was also convicted of trespass for entering the area on three separate occasions with foreign visitors – one of which was Kazakh millionaire Goga Ashkenazi who published a video on her Instagram account showing her and her friends jumping in front of the running Holuhraun lava.
