Four foreign travelers were unhurt when their RV was blown off the Ring Road, east of Skaftafell in South East Iceland early morning. The Icelandic Road and Coastal Authority has closed the Ring Road in the area due to dangerously powerful winds and sand storm.
Accident shows why it's necessary to close the road
The ICE-SAR company Kári from Öræfi region came to the assistance of the people after an RV they were driving was blown onto the side by a violent wind. A spokesman for ICE-SAR told the local newspaper Morgunblaðið that the accident took place around five in the morning. None of the four people who were in the vehicle were hurt. The people were taken to a nearby hotel where they spent the rest of the morning.
