Foul travel weather is predicted in the southeast today. According to the IMO, strong southeasterly winds are expected to pick up in the regions at around noon, with gusts around 20 metres per second (45 mph/72 km per hour) for a time. Snowdrift and sleet is also expected in the area. Expect poor travel conditions and limited visibility in the area today.

Calmer weather in other parts of the country. Mostly clear skies in the northeast. Minimum temperature -10 degrees Celsius (14 Fahrenheit).

Road conditions in the south are widely icy. Hail and snowdrift is reported widely in the Westfjords and in the far north. Hálsar and Hófaskarð roads, north Iceland, are impassable. In east Iceland, Fjarðarheiði, Fagridalur and Vatnsskarð eystra are impassable.
