Former PM of Iceland grappled with professional wrestler at LGBT conference in Iowa 1129

Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir, former Prime Minister of Iceland and the wold’s first openly gay PM, and her partner, journalist Jónína Leosdóttir, attended the Governor's Conference for LGBTQ Youth in Des Moines, Iowa, during Easter. According to Mbl the two women spoke about their public relationship at the conference and Jóhanna was also invited to meet with Iowa’s state governor.

Darren Young, the first American professional wrestler to come out publicly as gay while active as a wrestler with WWE, also spoke publicly at the conference. On her official Facebook page, Jóhanna revealed that she had met and wrestled with Darren, claiming the wrestler “complained of aches and pains in his arm the next day”.

Jóhanna had the undesirable job of governing Iceland during the months after the economic crash in 2008. She and her wife were extremely private about their personal lives during the time Jóhanna was a member of parliament so it came as a surprise when Jónína published a book in 2013 entitled Við Jóhanna (Jóhanna and I) where she tells the story of their relationship.
