Ben Kepka, a videographer and adventurer from New Zealand has been posting videos of his travel around in Iceland in the past few days, chronicling the sights and his experiences. The video series began with day one in London, and then take you through what arrival and travel through the island feels like. But in addition to your regular shots of Hallgrímskirkja church, the Reykjavík concert hall and the various waterfalls, Kepka decided to take a peek into one corner of Iceland very few people visit: one of the many abandoned farmhouses around the island.
Judging by the video Kepka was thoroughly spooked by the house, and what he was convinced was some sort of paranormal activity. After just one minute he ran out of the house spooked to death by a loud thump. He has never been as scared in his life, he claims.
While we at Iceland magazine question the existence of ghosts or other paranormal creatures, we are fairly certain that if they did exist they would indeed take offense at unwelcome visitors barging into other people’s homes, even if the people in question were deceased or had moved out, a long time ago. So, we do stress that if you do decide to visit an abandoned farmhouse you must show respect. This was someone’s home, and you are a guest!
