A downtown guesthouse was closed down and a foreign traveller placed in custody after a stag party went horribly wrong, the local news site visir.is reports. The man was arrested after a woman accused him of rape at the guesthouse where the group was staying.
According to the sources of visir.is the man was travelling with a group of friends who were celebrating the upcoming wedding of a friend. The group was staying at a downtown luxury apartment hotel on Laugavegur street where the alleged crime took place. Visir.is reports the woman told police the rape took place early on Sunday morning. Other members of the group were interrogated by the police, but according to visir.is only one man is under investigation.
After the alleged rape was reported the group was thrown out of their rooms at the hotel which was closed down temporarily while the issue was being investigated. The man will remain in custody until tomorroe, Thursday.
