According to Morgunblaðið newspaper, the fastest wind gust recorded during yesterday’s storm measured 72.6 metres per second (162.4 mph/261.3 km per hour) at Hallormsstaðaháls in East Iceland. The strongest ten minute mean wind, 50.9 metres per second (113.8 mph/183.2 km per hour), was also measured there.
Anemometers at 40 weather stations located all over the country measured wind gusts faster than 33 metres per second (74 mph/119 km per hour).
