According to Mbl.is the family of the Icelandic filmmaker accused of filming some of ISIS‘s propaganda videos say the claims against him are completely untrue and worry about his safety.

A blog post published on Nybooks.com quotes a Syrian defector from ISIS saying that “an Icelandic filmmaker was among the recruits to the group, hence the professional videos.”

It has now been revealed that an Icelandic filmmaker worked in Syria over a year ago, filming the work of doctors and health workers and life inside a Syrian refugee camp. The man’s family believe he’s in possession of footage that ISIS wants to acquire, and that the group hopes to uncover his name by implicating him to the organization.

According to  the Ministry for Foreign Affairs there is no information regarding Icelandic citizens having links to ISIS.
