Sunny spring weather is forecast for today and the next few days, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office. Temperatures are expected to rise to 15°C today with the warmest weather in West Iceland.

Light variable winds are in the cards today, though the northeasterly winds on the southeast coast could reach 5-10 m/s. Skies are also expected to clear in the north and east today and should be mostly fair this afternoon. Similar weather is forecast the next few days.

Sea breeze and fog could dampen the fun
A meteorologist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office warned that a sea breeze and fog could bring the temperature down in coastal areas.

So early in the spring, the sea breeze has a considarble cooling effect that could spoil some people's sensation of spring, the meteorologist told the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service RÚV.

He further advised those chasing the sun and warmth to travel inland where the effects of the sea breeze is less pronounced.

The forecast for the next few days
On Sunday and Monday an easterly wind, 5-13 m/s, is forecast with the strongest wind by the south coast.

Cloudy and mainly dry weather is predicted in the southeast. Temperature should reach 12 to 19°C inland, but a slighly cooler 7 to 12°C elsewhere.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the Met Office expects rather light variable wind or sea breeze. Partly cloudy and occational rainshowers, especially in the afternoon, and risk of foggy air by the coast. Temeparatures are also expected to lower.
