Extremely strong blasts of wind have measured on Route 1 near Hafnarfjall mountain, midway between Akranes and Borgarnes in West Iceland. Gusts of wind have measured more than 50 metres per second (112 mph/180 km/h) in the area.

Very strong winds have also been measured near Kjalarnes, Hvalfjördur fjord, the northern part of Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland, and near the Eyjafjöll mountain range in South Iceland.
The storm will reach its peak between 3 and 5 pm today and then gradually decrease until tomorrow morning. Winds are expected to escalate again tomorrow morning when a violent storm will sweep over the country.
