The Wilderness Centre was formally opened last week. It is located in Norðurdalur valley in Fljótsdalur, East Iceland, and offers guests to experience and enjoy the days of old.

The Wilderness Centre offers a wide range of services to guests: a museum, interesting day tours, horse riding tours, a café and bistro serving traditional food and unique accommodation.

“As soon as guests arrive, they are greeted by the pas; old buildings, an old windmill, and barn which we have restored,” Steingrímur Karlsson, who owns and runs the centre with his wife and children, told Morgunblaðið newspaper.

The accommodation is quite unique to Iceland and guests can choose between spending the night in an old ‘baðstofa’ (common room), a gorgeous old farmhouse, or a more upscale landowner’s suite.

The centre is open daily between 11 am and 6 pm. Admission is 2,500 ISK.
