Ex-Hurricane Cristobal causes adverse weather in Iceland as a "tropical cyclone" 1433

This past Sunday, August 31st, Iceland experienced some hurricane-like conditions with extreme wind gusts and horizontal rain. The weather was caused by the storm formerly known as Hurricane Cristobal, which had been downgraded into a cyclone as the weather front reached Iceland's landmass.

However, this dangerous storm has gone relatively under-the-radar as Holuhraun lava field captured all the headlines with its volcanic eruption. Cristobal made life difficult for scientists attempting to visit the eruption site due to its swarming winds and rainfall.

The storm has dissipated since Sunday and no one was hurt as a result of the wind gusts.
