The Police in Southern Iceland has apprehended the two men who escaped from Kvíabryggja minimum-security prison. The two men, who are 19 and 21 year old, escaped from the prison last night.
According to Morgublaðið, a local newspaper, the Police Chief Superintendent in Selfoss, Oddur Árnason, the two men were arrested in after the police received a tip about a couple of suspicious characters in the area.
The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service reports that the two men were arrested after park rangers received a report that someone had broken into a summer cottage by the lake. The distance between Kvíabryggja prison and Þingvellir is 188 kilometres (117 miles).
Þingvellir National Park is of course a popular tourist attraction, frequented by foreign visitors who visit the park as part of the Golden Circle.
