Enjoy the summer weather while it lasts: Cold Arctic winds and good chance of snow next week 6431

The weather forecast for today and tomorrow promises summery weather, high temperatures and clear skies. But by next week the weather will have returned to it's customary 50/50 winter-spring with flurries of snow and sleet, low temperatures and winds from the north.

We will be getting a few good days, a  meteorologist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office told the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service RÚV. According to the calendar summer should already be here, but we are used to seeing all kinds of weather in May, and the temperatures will drop next week.

He added that the summer people in North Iceland were enjoying will vanish as cold winds blowing from the Arctic will bring flurries of snow and sleet, while plunging temperatures closer to freezing.

The best weather in the next few days will be in North Iceland and in inland valleys in East Iceland.
