Potato plants and corn crops in Eyjafjörður fjord, north Iceland, were partly or completely damaged after sudden frost during the weekend, reports Morgunblaðið.
Bergvin Jóhannsson, a potato grower from Áshóll and director of the Icelandic Potato Growers’ Association, said the sudden frost forced growers to harvest their crop earlier than they had hoped.
“The frost damaged crops widely in Eyjafjörður, so there’s no reason to wait around, we’ll have to harvest the crop now,” he said.
