The Environmental Agency of Iceland, Umhverfisstofnun, has decided that Dyrhólaey peninsula in South Iceland will be temporarily closed to the public because of nesting birds.

From May 21st until June 25th the nature reserve is completely closed to all traffic between 7pm and 9am to prevent disturbance and nest abandonment. However, visitors are allowed to use marked trails along Lágey and Háey between 9am and 7pm.
