After stopping for two years in downtown Reykjavík the American coffee and donut chain Dunkin' donuts will be concentrating on stalls at gas stations and shopping mall food-courts. The chain opened its first café in Iceland on Laugavegur street in the summer of 2015. The Laugavegur café will be closed down on November 1.
Dunkin' Donuts now operates at five locations in Iceland. In addition to the Laugavegur café Dunkin' Donuts has cafés at Kringlan and Smáralind shopping malls, as well as two smaller locations at gas station rest stops and grocery stores.

The downtown café has been operating at a loss for some time, primarily due to the high cost of rent at the location. The café is 350 m2 (3,800 sq ft) in one of the most expensive areas in downtown Reykjavík. The manager of Dunkin Donuts in Iceland said in a statement that while the downtown café had been busy since opening, the cost of maintaining the location was simply too great
