Drunk traveller arrested after "going berserk" from excessive booze in downtown Reykjavík 7371

The freezing cold did not stop a drunken traveller from going on a destructive rampage on Laugavegur street on Sunday evening. The man was arrested and taken to the downtown police station where he was offered the opportunity to sleep off his crazed state before explaining himself to officers. In addition to fines and a court appearance the man can expect to pay for significant property damage he caused.

According to the diary of the Metropolitan Police officers were notified of a drunken man on Laugavegur shortly after ten on Sunday evening. The man, who is described as having gone berserk from excessive alcohol consumption, is suspected of having damaged private and public property, attacking parked cars along the street. According to police he is suspected of numerous cases of property damage, including a smashed car window.

It is not clear what caused the man to behave in the way he did, but excessive alcohol consumption is believed to have played a role, causing him to lose his faculties.
