The Police in South Iceland has arrested two people in connection to the deadly house fire in South Iceland on Wednesday afternoon. The people who have been arrested were taken into custody at the scene: A man who lives at the address and a woman who was a guest. Two people died in the fire, a woman in her 40s and a man in his 50s.

Police told the local newspaper Fréttablaðið that all the people involved in the fire, both the victims and the two people who have been arrested, are connected. The friendship of the four people was based on common drug dependency and abuse.
The people who died in the fire were a woman, born in 1971, and a man born in 1969. The woman, who had three sons, lived in Reykjavík. The man was unmarried and had no children. He lived in Selfoss.
