Icelandair has canceled its flights from New York, SAS has canceled a flight from Oslo and WOW Air has canceled a flight from Paris due to severe weather in Keflavík. The local newspaper Fréttablaðið reports that severe weather is to blame for significant delays at Keflavík. In addition to todays cancellations international flights were disrupted by storm yesterday as planes could neither be loaded nor unloaded.
Yesterday Icelandair canceled ten flights and delayed several more. Passengers on eight Icelandair planes and waited more than an hour before their planes were allowed to dock. Passengers onboard a Wizz Air flight from Riga had to wait for more than three hours before they could disembark.

Planes could still land, although they could not dock. According to safety regulations jet bridges and stair cars which are used to ferry passengers from planes to the terminal cannot be used when windspeeds exceed 50 knots (25 meters per second/ 57 mph). The local newspaper Fréttablaðið reports that all jet bridges were closed at four in the afternoon, and shortly thereafter the airport authority also stopped the use of stair cars.

According to the local news site Vísir passengers onboard the planes were calm and understood the wait, although some of the people waiting onboard the Wizz Air flight were beginning to get anxious to get out of the plane after having sat onboard for three hours. The passengers were not allowed to leave the plane until shortly before midnight. They landed at 20:19.
