For the second consecutive year, Icelandic musician and composer Jóhann Jóhannsson has scooped an Oscar nomination.
Jóhann is nominated in the category Best Original Score for the film Sicario, starring Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro and directed by Denis Villeneuve. You can listen to the truly fantastic soundtrack via the YouTube link embedded below.
Last year Jóhann was nominated in the same category for his music in the internationally acclaimed film The Theory of Everything.
The 88th Academy Award nominations were announced today in Los Angeles and the ceremony, hosted by Chris Rock, takes place on 28 February.
Among the composers Jóhann is going up against, are some of the biggest guns in the business, legends John Williams, nominated for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Ennio Morricone, nominated for The Hateful Eight.
Jóhann also scored a BAFTA nomination for Sicario. This is his second BAFTA nomination in a row and last year he took home the Golden Globe for Best Film Score for The Theory of Everything.
Jóhann is born in 1969 and has a background in alternative, indie and electronic music.
