Be sure to pack long johns, a hat, mittens and a thick coat if you are heading to the central highlands. The Icelandic Met Office’s (IMO) forecast looks quite chilly for Wednesday and the rest of the week in Northeast Iceland and especially the central highlands, where it’s expected to drop below zero degrees Celsius (32F) early Wednesday morning.
Today however looks good. It will be calm and bright around Iceland except along the south coast where there will be light precipitation
IMO’ forecast
Thursday: Northerly wind, 3 to 8 m/s (11-29 km/h / 7-18 mph). Cloudy and light precipitation in the north and east, sleet in the mountains. Elsewhere partly fair. Temperature 5 to 15 degrees C (41-59 F), mildest in the southwest, but coldest in the north part.
Friday: Northeasterly wind, 3 to 10 m/s (11-40 km/h / 7-22 mph). Cloudy and widespread showers, least in the west. Similar temperature.
