The City of Reykjavík’s Department of Environment and Planning has proposed stricter regulations on coach travel in Reykjavík’s old Þingholt neighbourhood. The neighbourhood has seen a huge increase in the construction of hotels and guesthouses in recent years, especially when it comes to frequent hotel pick-ups and drop-offs. The small streets make it challenging for coach drivers to get around and it is not always easy to find a place to stop or park.

If accepted, coach travel in Þingholt will be limited to busses smaller than 8 metres (26 feet), and two new drop-offs will be created at Hlemmur and Lækjartorg squares.
