Chinese national involved in a deadly traffic accident on Christmas 2015 pleads guilty 4491

A Chinese national has plead guilty to having caused a deadly accident on the second day of Christmas 2015. The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service reports that yesterday, when the District Court of South Iceland began hearings on the case, the man plead guilty to the charges. Sentencing will take place next week. The man has been barred by court order from leaving Iceland since the accident. The court order has now been lifted.

Two cars, coming from opposite direction, crashed into one another on a single-lane bridge over the river Hólá in South Iceland. The man who died was a Japanese national. Both were travelling with their families. Police investigation of the case showed that the Chinese national had been driving recklessly and speeding when the accident took place, entering the bridge after the other car had already driven onto it.
