The clip from the show has gathered much attention both locally and internationally as Páll Óskar, a beloved pop singer and prominent LGBT-rights activist, explained sexuality to the host in a simple yet effective manner.
“I don’t get crushes on girls, I get crushes on boys because I’m gay,” the singer revealed when asked whether he had a girlfriend.
Further explaining: “Some boys fancy other boys, some boys fancy girls, some girls fancy other girls, and some girls fancy boys. One can’t control how the heart beats, it just beats.”
A recent index showed that gay men in Iceland are the world’s happiest. Iceland scored highest when it came to public opinion, public behaviour, and life satisfaction. Norway, Denmark and Sweden followed pursuit.
