Rumors are circulating that scenes from the next installment of the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: Episode VII, are currently being shot at Eyjafjallajökull glacier, Iceland´s famous volcano.

JJ Abrams and his team are rumored to be shooting footage for Hoth scenes in Iceland, despite the fact that previous shooting for Hoth was done in Norway. For those who are not avid Star Wars fans, Hoth is a desolate planet covered in ice and snow.

According to a recent Facebook post by Warhammer and 2000AD alumni, Gordon Rennie, scenes are being shot in Iceland featuring Chewbacca and old school Stormtroopers.

Although the exciting claims are just rumors at this point, it would be no surprise if the new feature film includes the snowy, pictureque scenery found during Iceland´s winter.

Start Wars: Episode VII is expected to be released in December 2015.
