The British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver was travelling in Iceland over the last weekend, taking in the sights and sampling some of the selection at local cafés. According to his Instagram feed Jamie visited the downtown café Bergsson Mathús, saying it offered “great breakfast”. Jamie also managed to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights, thanks to clear skies and high aurora activity.

But Jamie took some time out of his busy schedule to offer his ideas for city planning in Reykjavík and more efficient use of some of the city’s best known buildings. He posted a photo on his Instagram feed last night, suggesting Hallgrímskirkja church, of the best known landmarks in Reykjavík, would be even better if it had a bakery: “Very Cool church design in Iceland – be cool with a bakery at the bottom.”
